Day 1: The Anatomy of the Shen

Day 2: Unraveling Shen Fixations

 In this seminar we will explore through lecture, group energy exercises and inner meditation the mechanisms of the Shen. This will better enable us to understand and address the Shen energy in our patients’ healing process 

First day:

The Anatomy of the Shen

we will explore:

• What is Shen? an examination of the Shen in the Nei Jing
  
  
• Understanding Jing, Qi, Shen and Ling
  
  
• Understanding the Hun, Po, Yi, Zhi and Shen
  
  
• Understanding the Seven Po and the Three Hun
  
  
• The Shen in Acupuncture theory
  
  
• the mental and emotional components of The Zang Fu organs
  
  
• Consciousness relative to the glands
  
  
• The Shen qualities of the joints
  
  
• Understanding the Shen expression in accidents, surgeries, tattoos etc
  
  
• The Shen in relation to the Ancestors and the Zong Ancestral Qi
  
  
• The Shen in relation to the left and right Heart
  
  
• The Shen and the Pericardium
  
  
• The Shen in relation to the Eight Extraordinary channels
  
  
• Using guided meditation we will attune to, and dialog with the Hun and Po, the mindful and instinctive aspects of consciousness resident in the essential organ structures and channels of the body. 
  
  
• There will be demonstrations of tracing the Shen components of illnesses, symptoms, accidents etc.
  
  
• Partner exercises that introduce healing methods to unravel the negative Shen energies bound in the body.     

 

Second day:

Unraveling Shen Fixations

On the second day we will explore a variety of techniques to access and release fixated Shen energy. After completing this course, participants will be able to use these techniques in the clinical acupuncture setting to release afflictive Shen energy.
 

• Bound Shen energy and  Shen fixations.
  
  
• Awareness release technique – working with kinesthesia, emotion, attitude and memory to access bound Shen energy
  
  
• Awareness release technique – clinical practicum
  
  
• Adaptations of EFT, TFT and other techniques. Using word triggers, verbal associations, paradox and confusion to free the Shen
  
  
• working with 'pattern interrupt' techniques to clear belief systems out of the acupuncture channels, organs etc.
  
  
• Cathartic release – using movement, chaotic breath and other techniques we will explore the value of cathartic release as a qigong methodology to heal the Shen
  
  
• Review of breathwork in the clinical setting
  
  
• specific mental and physical exercises to contact and clear out stored emotional energy and Shen fixations from the internal organs
  
  
• Integrative processes - acupuncture treatment applications
  
  
• integrative processes - patient homework - such as dancing, stillness, feeling, sensing, listening, dialoging, dreaming, journaling.
