In this seminar we will explore through lecture, partner exercises, group exercises and inner meditation the mechanisms of the Shen. This will better enable us to understand and address the Shen energy in our patients’ healing process
Third day:
The Physiology of the Shen
- We will explore the Shen as psychological and constitutional types
- the fundamental emotions and their inter-relationship with the Zang Fu organs
- The Shen in trauma, the process of suppressed memory and post-traumatic stress
- the mental and emotional kinetics of the Eight Extraordinary channels.
- the mental and emotional processes associated with the regular acupuncture channels.
- emotions and the Luo channels
- Emotions and the connective tissue system
- Emotional processing and the Blood, lymph and fluids of the body
Fourth day:
The Shen and the Breath
we will explore:
- The post-birth Qi and the Breath at birth. The breath and emotion, the breath and trauma
- deep slow breathing, deep faster breathing, and shallow slow breathing methods in the clinical setting
- Breath release and movement, breath and spontaneous Qigong movement release, chaotic breath and catharsis
- breath release for each of the Zang Fu organs
- Breath centering into body parts or symptoms
- Breath release for the three Dan Tian and the pelvis
- Breath centering into body parts or symptoms. Color breathing and channel breathing with acupuncture
- Brief Breath release and Awareness release technique - applicability to the acupuncture treatment setting
- working with the gentle-breath touch of the practitioner to facilitate emotional healing and gentle contact.
- The Fierce-breath touch of the practitioner to break up blockages - an exploration of exorcistic qigong treatment intervention.
- Breathing and the kinetics of the Eight Extraordinary Channels.
